Unusual park theft: trees & flowers missing

Parks employee Christina Adkins says the crime was simple, "they dug 'em up." The magnolia trees at one Menifee County park, stolen. Adkins says the thieves also took flowers from a nearby flower bed, "Easter Lilies, Tulips, etc."

The plants were all paid for with funds from a PRIDE grant to beautify the park. "It's tough in this tough economic crisis to get money for these projects, this is just another knockdown for the county' said Judge-Executive Hershell Sexton.

Parks officials say they want the trees back. "If we find you first we will prosecute, but if you give them back, no harm no foul" said Adkins. County officials are offering a reward.
