Extreme Heat Hits The Bluegrass

For the second day in a row, temperatures in Kentucky reached record-setting levels.

The mercury rose to 102 degrees on Thursday afternoon in Lexington. That beats the previous record of 98, set back in 1936.

Thursdays intense heat was coupled with a heat advisory after humidity levels rose. In response to the heat wave, city officials opened cooling centers to help keep people safe and cut admission prices at pools.

LexTran also offered free bus rides for people who needed to get to a heat relief center.

We also saw record temperatures on Wednesday when it soared to 100 degrees.
