Woman critical after fiery crash

Witnesses say an impatient driver may have caused a fiery crash in Lexington Monday morning. It happened on Russell Cave Road near Faulkner Avenue.

Police say a Dodge Caravan, being driven by 67-year-old Lee Eldrige, was slowing down to make a turn, yielding to an oncoming car. That's when police say a Dodge Neon behind it tried to go around the Caravan. Police say the Neon rear ended the Caravan, before striking an oncoming Oldsmobile head-on.

The Dodge Neon burst into flames. The woman driving it, 20-year-old Rebeca Sanchez Rodrigo, was taken to UK Hospital with minor injuries.

Police say the driver of the Oldsmobile, 28-year-old Chad Hurst also suffered minor injuries, but a passenger in his car, 29-year-old Jenny Barker, was critically injured. Police say the Cynthiana woman was not wearing her seat belt.
