Creation museum welcomes one millionth visitor

PETERSBURG, Ky. (AP) - A Kentucky museum praised and jeered for
its Old Testament teaching of Earth's creation says it has reached
a million visitors since opening nearly three years ago.
The Answers in Genesis Creation Museum says it reached one
million visitors on Monday.
The high-tech facility, opened in May 2007, uses biblical
stories to explain the origins of the universe and asserts that it
all happened around 6,000 years ago.
Joe Brown, a visitor from Dayton, Ohio, received a gift basket
and a lifetime membership on Monday for being the museum's
millionth guest.
Answers in Genesis president Ken Ham says the facility "serves
as an encouragement to Christians to stand unashamedly for their
faith." The museum cost about $27 million, which was raised from
private donations.
