Earlier this month a UK nurse, Vicki Hutchison, was killed when an SUV driven by a man who police say had no driver's license slammed into her vehicle. Today that driver was a no-show for a court appearance.
It was a busy afternoon at the Lexington courthouse with people coming and going for traffic violations. However, one person scheduled to appear was a no-show.
According to court documents, 23-year-old Christobal Ramirez-Cordoba was scheduled to be in court for driving without an operators license. This stems from an incident on April 5th where police say he swerved into the other lane on Briar Hill Road hitting 45-year-old Vicki Hutchison.
"She had managed to hit on the brakes and try to steer towards the right. Unfortunately for her, there was a large tree on the side of the road which kinda prevented her from being able to take a more evasive maneuver and get off the roadway", Sgt. Paul Simms told NewsFirst on April 5th.
Hutchison was on the way to UK hospital where she was employed as a nurse. She was killed in the crash. The other driver, Christobal Ramirez-Cordoba, who was headed to a local horse farm where he worked was cited for driving without a license and expected to appear on the charge today in traffic court.
A bench warrant is now being issued for Cordoba after he failed to appear for this matter.
Cordoba was also cited in November for also driving without a license. He pled guilty to that charge.
