World Equestrian Games now 150 days out

The days are numbered before the 2010 Alltech World Equestrian Games kick off.

All around Lexington folks are preparing for the big event that's just 150 days away.

Angela Beavin reports.

Mayor Jim Newberry says he expects about 600,000 tickets will be sold.

That gives reason for several changes taking place.

"We've made a huge improvement in our downtown area. The streetscape construction that's going on is part of it. The Cheapside Park is part of it. The South Limestone park is part of it. so, we've got a tremendous amount of work in our downtown area," says Mayor Newberry.

He says most of the work should be done in time for the games' kick-off on September 25th.

Newberry also says the events will raise the city's visibility around the world.

"People that have never heard of Lexington will now be acquainted with us. They will understand what a special connection there is between Lexington and horses."

The games run through October 10th.

Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster.
