Man Charged In Eastern Kentucky Convenience Store Robberies

South Williamson, Ky. - A 32- year old Hamilton, Ohio man is in jail tonight in Logan, West Virginia charged with two armed robberies over the past month at a convenience store in South Williamson, Ky., the latest robbery coming early today.

Kentucky State Police say Glen R. Cook was stopped and arrested by Mingo County, W.Va. Sheriff's deputies about 12:30 p.m. Saturday driving a vehicle matching the description of the suspect's vehicle supplied to authorities by a clerk at the store earlier in the day.

"Fast Lane Convenience Store," was robbed at gunpoint shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday when a man brandishing what was described as "a long gun" demanded money from the night clerk, according to the Kentucky State Police in Pikeville.

Cook is also charged in connection with another robbery at the same store July 21st. He is lodged in the regional detention center in Logan, W.Va. Cook is charged with two counts of armed robbery - theft of over $300 dollars.

The clerk described the robber as being about six feet tall and weighing about 160 pounds. The clerk told police the robber was wearing a gray hooded sweatwhirt, blue jeans and work boots.

K.S.P. Detective Eddie Crum is heading up the investigation into the incident. Crum was assisted in his investigation by Troopers Tony Tackett and Hoyt Smith and deputies from the Pike County Sheriff's Department.
