Charges reduced against Jackson County teens

We could learn more Thursday about the case of three high school seniors who allegedly kidnapped, then tried to kill a classmate.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled in Jackson County Thursday morning for Ashley Sams and Corinne Schwab.

Police say the two, along with a 17 year old, kidnapped Cheyenne Williams then tried to push her off a cliff.

Sams and Schwab are charged with attempted murder.

The Kentucky Equality Federation wants the case to be prosecuted as a hate crime because Williams is openly gay.

However, attorneys for the defendants have said Williams was a willing participant in the incident, which they say was staged.
