Man killed in Madison County flood

The Madison County coroner says 65-year-old Carl Rogers either drowned or was electrocuted at his home off Red House road.

Rogers was seen sitting in his home as the water came up. Kentucky State Police say a rescue team was sent to try to reach Rogers but he fell in the water before they could reach him.

Neighbors say the floods that caused his death were unlike anything they had ever seen.

"It sure looks disastrous, everything I look at looks destroyed. I've lived here 20 years and never seen anything like it," said neighbor George Wilson.

An autopsy is planned for today on Carl Rogers to determine the exact cause of death.

Many roads in Madison County are still covered in water. The Tates Creek Bridge area was particularly hard hit. Hundreds of feet of pavement were washed away there.

The goal is to have at least one lane open on all roadways under water as soon as possible.
