Bus Company Involved In KY Crash Loses License

Posted: Wed 8:26 AM, Aug 22, 2007

An Alabama bus company that was involved in a fatal crash in Kentucky in June has lost its license to transport passengers.

A review by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration after the accident found problems that resulted in C&R Tours receiving an unsatisfactory rating and losing its rating to cross state lines.

The company did not correct the problems as required within 45
days, resulting in the loss of its license.

Regulators did not release specific findings about the company. But spokeswoman Melissa DeLaney says such reviews include checks of records, insurance, drug and alcohol testing procedures and mechanical operations.

An investigation by Kentucky State Police showed a C&R bus was
overcrowded and lacked proper registration when it crashed on
Interstate 65 on June 25, killing a passenger and the driver.
