'Walk Across Kentucky' to help celebrate National Women's Health Week

This is National Women's Health Week, and the state wants women to put on their walking shoes to celebrate.

The Kentucky Department of Public Health, along with the Frankfort Regional Medical Center, the Franklin County Health Department, and the Kentucky Commission on Women, will host "Walk Across Kentucky" this Thursday at noon, beginning on the steps of the State Capitol.

The walk will then proceed down Capital Avenue. If the event is delayed because of rain, the walk will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 20.

Along with the walk, the event will also supply health information on several different topics related to women's health.

Health departments across Kentucky are encouraged to organize similar walks this week in their communities.

In Lexington, employees of the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department will be walking around special trails at all three LFCHD campuses Thursday.
