Recreational boating ban lifted on rivers in western Kentucky

PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard has lifted a ban on
recreational boating on sections of the Tennessee River and the
Cumberland River.
In the wake of flooding last week, the Coast Guard had closed
the Tennessee River to recreational use from Pickwick Dam in
Tennessee more than 200 miles to Kentucky Dam at the head of Land
Between the Lakes. The Cumberland had been restricted to commercial
vessels along more than 300 miles, including Lake Barkley.
The ban came Wednesday because of flooding and debris in the
Late Monday afternoon, the Coast Guard lifted all restrictions
on recreational boating for both rivers, including Lake Barkley and
Kentucky Lake.
