Customers Asked To Turn Off Air Conditioners; Conserve Energy

Video will be available shortly

Power companies have asked customers to turn off their air conditioners for a pair of 30-minute breaks today to give the kilowatts a rest.

Cliff Feltham of Kentucky Utilities and Chip Keeling of the Louisville Gas and Electric Company are also asking the same rest periods for dishwashers and other appliances as near 100-degree heat continues to drive record levels of energy consumption.

Keeling says there is no concern that there won't be enough electricity.

He says seven states are joining in the power conservation.
