Some Kentucky flood victims now able to apply for federal assistance

Flood victims in some Kentucky continues can now begin applying for federal assistance.

Yesterday, President Obama declared Casey, Logan, Lewis, Lincoln, Metcalfe, Rockcastle, Rowan, and Woodford Counties disaster areas.

Flood victims in those counties are now eligible for aid.

The disaster declaration could expand.

FEMA officials are visiting other parts of Kentucky Wednesday, including Madison County, to tour flood damage.

Several families living near Silver Creek were hard hit in last week's flooding.

Emergency Management officials, along with FEMA inspectors, toured that area Wednesday morning.

A neighborhood near Silver Creek was considered to have some of the worst flood damage.

Carl Richards, of Madison County Emergency Management, says damage assessments over the past couple of days should bring some federal assistance to the county.

Madison County EMA officials say if you need flood-related help, it's not too late to contact them.

You can give them a call at 859-624-4787.
