Police: Children found living in locked, filthy room

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A police officer says two children were
living in a locked bedroom in Hopkinsville that had fecal material
smeared on the walls and carpet.
Hopkinsville officer Brian Smith testified that the children's
parents monitored them with a wireless camera.
The New Era in Hopkinsville reports that 24-year-old Megan Rae
McQuiston and her husband, 22-year-old Andrew McQuiston, face
first-degree criminal abuse charges. Smith said the conditions the
2- and 3-year-old children were living in were "absolutely
horrendous."
Smith had discovered the children in the room late last month
and was testifying at a hearing for Megan McQuiston on Tuesday.
District Judge Arnold Lynch added two additional charges of
first-degree unlawful imprisonment against the mother after Smith's
testimony.
