Richmond, Ky - Richmond city police have arrested a man and a woman and charged them with cultivating marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia following a raid on a local residence.

Sgt. Willard Reardon said patrol officers discovered an indoor marijuana growing operation at 108 Shamrock Lane, Apartment 1 in the city where they seized a total of 52 plants.

Twenty-eight year old Matthew Conway of Richmond and 22-year old Amanda King, also of Richmond, were arrested at the scene.

The raid occured Friday after a tip alerted authorities to marijuana plants in a vehicle near the residence. Police found nine plants in the car. Authorities say the owner of the vehicle told them he had found the plants outside. Officers obtained a search warrant and with the assistance of the Street Crimes Unit found 43 plants being cultivated inside.

Authorities say they found grow lamps and other materials used to develop the plants. Officers also found more than $13-hundred dollars in cash, drug paraphernalia and scales used to weigh the pot. Police say the plants were in the middle stages of growth. Conway and King are lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
