LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Governor Ernie Fletcher and Democratic
gubernatorial candidate Steve Beshear both say they love Kentucky. But they differ on how the rest of the country sees the Bluegrass state.

Fletcher says his administration has worked hard to present a positive image of the state. He pointed to his "Unbridled" Spirit" campaign and the spread of high-speed Internet access as major signs of progress.

But Beshear says Fletcher has hurt Kentucky's image. Beshear pointed to an investigation into Fletcher administration hirings - a probe that drew national attention. Beshear said it was an example that quote "bad government is a drag on economies."

Beshear argues that under Fletcher's leadership Kentucky has slipped further behind most of the nation in several important economic categories.
