A forum is scheduled for tonight on whether to raise property taxes in Fayette County.

The school board wants to raise property taxes five cents for every one hundred dollars your home is worth.

Schools superintendent Stu Silberman says the money will help to renovate and build new schools, as well as pay for much needed repairs.

The public forum is scheduled to begin at 5:30 tonight at the Fayette County Board of Education on East Main Street.

Silberman says it's been 40 years since the last time a tax increase of this magnitude was proposed by the Fayette County school board.
