Innovative Mattress Solutions named Retail Giant of Bedding

ORLANDO, Fla. – Innovative Mattress Solutions of Winfield, W.Va., was named a Retail Giant of Bedding by Furniture/Today at its fifth-annual Bedding Conference. The sold-out event, held at the Ritz-Carlton here, was attended by more than 270 top mattress retailers, producers and suppliers.

Founder and CEO Kim Knopf was saluted for her determination and persistence in launching the company as a 23 year old and in building it into a regional powerhouse today.

“Kim Knopf’s story is an inspiring example of what can be accomplished through hard work and unswerving dedication to her mission,” said David Perry, executive editor of Furniture/Today, who presented the award to Innovative Mattress Solutions. “Today the brands in the Innovative Mattress Solutions stable – Mattress Warehouse and Sleep Outfitters – together give the company a strong regional presence in the mattress industry.”

Furniture/Today saluted Innovative Mattress Solutions for its focused approach to the business, one that emphasizes brand names, great service and the lowest prices.

“This is a well-run company, and one that is smart to emphasize the roles played by Kim and her daughter, Karrie,” Perry said. “The mattress customer is a female customer, and by presenting a female face to the public, Innovative Mattress Solutions connects with its customers.”

Also honored as Retail Giants were Sleep Country Canada, based in Toronto, Bedmart, based in Tucson, Ariz., and The Original Mattress Factory, based in Cleveland.

“This year’s Retail Giants of Bedding show that there are many paths to success in the mattress business,” said Perry. “Two of these retailers are headed by women and present a female-friendly face to consumers, an important consideration given the prominent role that women play in the mattress purchase process. Our other winners also rely on the expertise and experience of their founders to make solid consumer connections in their own right.”
