Video will be available shortly

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Louisville police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley says the bank gunman shot by police has died.

The shooting happened after a nearly three-hour standoff at a National City Bank branch in suburban Louisville. Four bank employees who had been briefly held hostage were freed unharmed before the shooting.

The dead man's identity was not immediately released. He was shot by members of the SWAT team as he came out of the bank holding a weapon.

Members of the team have been placed on administrative leave. Police say it's not clear whether the man was trying to rob the bank.
