Six-Year-Old Murdered In Elizabethtown

A man accused of killing a six-year-old boy in Hardin County says he didn't do it.

Police say Antwan Hayes beat Mar'riel Lucas to death.

Mar'riel Lucas was rushed to a Hardin County hospital Wednesday morning and then flown to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy showed the child died from an intestinal tear caused by blunt force trauma to the abdomen. Police say Antwan Hayes, 22, who lived with the boy and the boy's mother, admited to hitting Lucas in the stomach Wednesday morning.

Hayes had a not guilty plea entered on his behalf during an arraignment this morning.

Hayes is being held on a 500-thousand dollar full cash bond.
