Former teacher accused of offering student money for sex

Some shocking claims have been made about a former southern Kentucky high school teacher.

A Pulaski County grand jury indicted 29-year-old Bret Howard for allegedly offering a 16-year-old student money in exchange for sex.

Howard used to teach and coach at Somerset High School, but we're told he resigned shortly after the allegations surfaced earlier this year.

Police say Howard offered to pay the 16 year old for a sex act in person..then followed up with a similar offer in writing about a month later.

According to an indictment returned recently, Howard committed the offenses on or about January 22.

Howard was a science teacher and was also an assistant coach for several athletic teams.

The indictment orders Howard not to have any contact with children under 18 years old, and also orders him to stay away from school property.

Howard paid bond in the circuit clerk's office Friday, and then was ordered to be in court at 9 a.m. on May 27th.
