Interstate Back Open After Chain Reaction Wreck Causes Backup

Wreckage cleared from multi-vehicle crash, Interstate open again

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Franklin County Sheriff Steve Clark reports wreckage from a multi-vehicle traffic crash has been cleared and the west-bound lanes of Interstate 64 near Frankfort are open. The collision of a tractor trailer rig, a milk truck, and empty tanker and an SUV sent a woman to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

A detour was set up at exit 58 near the crash site and traffic was directed through Frankfort and back onto the interstate.

Original Story
Two tractor trailers and a car crash along Interstate 64, closing the westbound lanes of traffic.

A tractor trailer jack-knifed near the 53 milemarker in Frankfort.
A car behind that truck managed to stop in time, however a tractor trailer behind the car pushed it into the jack-knifed tractor trailer.

The tractor trailers hit guard rails on opposite sides of the road, in the westbound lanes, and narrowly missed going over cliffs.

The woman inside the car went to the hospital with minor injuries. The drivers of the tractor trailers are okay.

Police say rain likely caused the accident.

A detour begins at exit 58, continues through Frankfort and returns to I-64 at mile-marker 53.
