Tighter security was on hand as students arrived for classes Friday morning at Rowan County Senior High School.

A letter went home to parents saying there have been rumors that some type of violence would break out at the school.

The school's principal, Mark Murray, says there has been no verified threat.

He says, if verified, it will be dealt with to the fullest extent possible.

Parents tell 27 NEWSFIRST there were threats with racial overtones.

School officials say K-nine units swept the building prior to classes Friday morning and everything is safe.
