Posted: Fri 8:09 AM, Aug 31, 2007

A city council member in central Kentucky has entered a plea of guilty to an amended charges after being accused in June of stealing funds from a local club.

Rose Cunningham appeared before Anderson District Judge Linda
Armstrong and entered a guilty plea to a charge of theft by unlawful taking under $300, which is a misdemeanor. She paid a fine and court costs totaling almost $250. Cunningham was elected to the Lawrenceburg council in November, and has continued to serve since
her arrest.

A one-year jail term was conditionally discharged as long as Cunningham commits no other criminal offenses during the next two
years.

The 65-year-old Cunningham had been charged by state police
with stealing $2,283 from the Pierian Woman's Club, an organization
for which she had served as treasurer.

She had paid the money back before she was arrested in June.
