More Students Taking Tests, Scores Both Up

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Data released this week by the College Board shows a record number of high school students in Kentucky took Advanced Placement exams this year and scored higher than ever before.

The Board reports 15,408 students across the state took at least one test this spring and more than half of those tests earned a score of three, four or five, with five being the highest score. The number of test takers is up 13 percent over last year, and the number of those scoring a three or higher is up eight percent.

Those who took state tests included nearly 2,000 who attended private schools or were home-schooled.
