Kroger Recalls Store-Brand Potato Salads

CINCINNATI (AP) - State agricultural officials and the Kroger Company say the grocery chain is recalling its store-brand "Southern-Style" and "Mustard" potato salads.

There are concerns that they have been tainted.

The Ohio Department of Agriculture and Kroger advise consumers not to eat the potato salads if they have a "best if used by" date of September Fifth. The department tested some of the potato salad during routine food safety sampling, and found it positive for E. coli.

The bacteria can cause intestinal sickness and other problems. The department says no illnesses have been reported. Kroger stopped selling the affected potato salads, and will give full refunds to anyone returning them to stores.

Kroger says other types of store potato salad are all right to consume.
