Americans, Kentuckians observe Memorial Day

America pays tribute Monday to men and women who lost their lives in the line of duty, as well as those still serving their country.

President Barack Obama will spend part of his Memorial Day at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery outside Chicago.

Vice President Joe Biden will preside at ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery.

In Kentucky, Governor Steve Beshear has ordered flags at all state office buildings to be lowered to half staff.

A ceremony to remember the veterans buried at Camp Nelson National Cemetery is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday.

In Lexington, a ceremony is planned at the Lexington National Cemetery. It will be at 11 a.m. and will feature a playing of the taps and three-volley salute.
