Ohio man killed in Whitley County I-75 semi-trucks collision

LONDON, KY - Kentucky State Police report a Fletcher, Ohio man is dead following a collision Saturday between his tractor-trailer truck and another at the 20 mile marker of the northbound lane of Interstate 75 in Whitley County.

The victim has been identified as 43-year old Kevin E. Buckalew. Trooper Mike Witt said Buckalew's tractor-trailer ran into the back of another tractor trailer driven by 46-year old Marvin D. Pendleton, Jr. of Millbury, Ohio.

Bucklew was reportedly wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash but was ejected from his vehicle. He was airlifted to the UK Medical Center in Lexington where he was pronounced dead.

Pendleton was uninjured. Police say he was northbound on I-75 and was slowing due to traffic when the collision occured tying up traffic for several hours.

Tpr. Witt was assisted at the scene by KSP Traffic Crash Reconstructionist Tpr. Jeff Anderson, Whitley County EMS, Whitley County Sheriff’s Office, Williamsburg Police Department, Whitley County Health Department, Oak Grove Fire Department, Three-Point Fire Department and Woodbine Fire Department. An investigation continues.
