Rounds of showers and storms continue to push across the region. This action is packing a lot of lightning and heavy rainfall. Flash flooding is possible through Wednesday.
Six people are recovering after a crash in Jackson County. It happened around 3 p.m. Tuesday along Highway 290 near McKee.
Officials tell 27 NEWSFIRST a woman with three children in her car crossed the center line and hit an oncoming truck head-on. The three children were flown to U.K. Hospital.
Police had to use the jaws of life to get the victims out of the vehicles.
The driver of the car, 50-year-old Paulette Muncy was flown to UK Hospital, where she's listed in fair condition.
Muncy's passengers, 7-year-old Cieria Phinazee, 7-year-old Conner Gotell, and 11-year-old Clifton Phinazee, all suffered pelvic and abdominal injuries. Conner and Clifton were taken to UK Medical Center, while Cieria was taken to a hospital in Berea.
The driver of the truck, 50-year-old Dicky Anderson, was taken to a Berea hospital with a chest injury.
Anderson's passenger, 45-year-old Regina Begley, was flown to UK Hospital with a chest injury.
Police say they think Muncy fell asleep, causing the crash.
