Man Crashes Into Government Building During Police Chase

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Police say a Louisville man who allegedly fled when an officer tried to pull him over crashed into a government building in central Kentucky and died.

The Courier-Journal reports on its Web site that 42-year-old Rodney Stewart was pronounced dead today at the scene after striking the government office building in Nelson County.

A report from Bardstown police says an officer in Mount Washington had tried to pull Stewart over for traffic violations, but he would not stop.

Mount Washington Police Lieutenant Colonel Roy Daugherty confirms the Bardstown police report but declined to comment further, deferring to that department's investigation.
