Fire destroys home before family could move in

Fire destroyed a Jessamine County home in the early hours of Monday morning. The Jessamine County Fire Department was dispatched to the home around two Monday morning. When they arrived the home on Sapphire Court, it was fully engulfed in flames.

A neighbor says he heard an explosion and looked across the street to see flames shooting out the windows. Firefighters arrived within minutes. They say the home was not hooked up to gas or electric. They say they did what they could but the home was beyond saving. Investigators say they know where the fire started in the home. They're now trying to figure out how it started.

The home was under construction and about 95% complete. No other homes or properties were damaged in this fire.
