ELIZABETH, Ind. (AP) - A county prosecutor says he won't file criminal charges against gamblers who pocketed $487 thousand from a malfunctioning slot machine at an Ohio River casino.
Harrison County chief deputy prosecutor John Colin says the actions of some patrons of Caesars Indiana casino may have been immoral, but not criminal.
Casino executives urged officials to file theft charges against the gamblers, saying they took advantage of a machine that was improperly set. It gave players credit for ten dollars for each dollar they spent.
More than two dozen people played the machine in July 2006 before one gambler alerted Caesars employees.
The Associated Press left a message with a casino spokeswoman seeking comment.
