Soldier's body found days after disappeared in lake

TAYLORSVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A state spokesman says the body of a 23-year-old Fort Knox soldier who was last seen in May swimming in Taylorsville Lake has been found in the water.
Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife spokesman Mark Marraccini says the body of Army Spc. Anthony M. Carter of Syracuse, Ind., was found early Tuesday near the area where he had been last seen May 29.
A news release from Fort Knox said Carter had been assigned to the Warrior Transition Battalion there since November. He had served in Afghanistan with the Indiana National Guard's 1613th Engineer Company before his assignment to Fort Knox.
Marraccini says Carter's body was found by the Army Corps of Engineers, which had searched for the soldier every day since he was reported missing.
