Anthony Petitt, 23, said he wanted to get tested to see if he could donate his kidney to his sister. Jessica Bowels was diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy, a kidney disorder, at 13 years old and now needed a transplant at the age of 21. Anthony had the paperwork to do so, but then tragedy struck. On Monday, Petitt was involved in a very serious car crash just outside Carlisle in Nicholas County. Doctors told his parents he was not going to make it. So, quickly they decided to donate his organs, with one stipulation. "I told them that his sister would get his kidney if it was a match," said Cheryl Perkins, Anthony and Jessica's Mom. It was a match and Jessica was rushed to the hospital to prepare for the transplant. Now, a day later it appears to be a success and Jessica says she feels better than she has in more than 10 years.
