LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky senatorial candidate Rand Paul is getting a fundraising boost from Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell, who backed Paul's opponent in the primary election.
McConnell spokesman Robert Steurer confirmed Thursday that the influential Kentucky senator will host the fundraiser for Paul on June 24 in Washington, D.C. The spokesman referred to the Paul campaign for further details.
A Paul campaign spokesman did not immediately return messages seeking comment.
McConnell had endorsed Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson, Paul's main opponent in last month's GOP primary. After the election, McConnell urged Kentucky Republicans to unite behind Paul.
Paul faces Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway in the general election.
