A man police say was shot in the head by his own son is improving. Anthony Cordell is now listed in fair condition at the University of Kentucky hospital.

Police say 22-year-old Dustin Cordell shot his father and his mother on Thursday morning at their home in McCreary County.

Kandi Cordell died from her wounds.

After police responded to the scene, they started searching for the couple's son. He was spotted in Whitley County. Police say he then led them on a chase that ended in Tennessee.

Cordell is in custody of the Campbell County, Tennessee Sheriff's Department. He should be extradited back to Kentucky soon.

He is now charged with murder, assault and other charges stemming from the police chase.
