The man found dead along some Lexington railroad tracks has been identified.

The Fayette County coroner's office says 54-year-old Ronald Potter, of Lexington, died early Tuesday morning after being struck by a train near the South Broadway overpass.

The coroner says Potter died of multiple blunt force trauma. His death has been ruled accidental.

Just after 1 Tuesday morning, Lexington Police received a call from railroad police saying a body had been spotted by a train passing through the train yard.

Police say Potter's body was likely dragged about a quarter mile by a train. They don't know why he was on the tracks in the first place.
