Teacher charged with murder pleads not guilty

A central Kentucky teacher, facing a murder charge, entered a not guilty plea in court Tuesday.

Police say 23-year-old Brittany Williams' car crossed the center line of Highway 7 in Morgan County May 31, and slammed into another car.

76-year-old Gerry Blackwell died in the crash.

Williams was a seventh grade math teacher at Conkwright Middle School in Clark County.

Officials say she has lost her job there because of cutbacks.

At the time of the crash, police say they suspected drugs played a role in it.

A preliminary hearing was set for Williams on June 22.

No bond has been set for her.
