Posted: Mon 4:15 PM, Sep 10, 2007

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A probation officer says three attorneys charged with bilking their clients out of millions of dollars from a diet drug settlement could each face 20 years in prison.

Kim Heidel also testified today that the three men could be fined up to $250-thousand and ordered to pay retribution under federal sentencing guidelines.

Heidel ("HI-dul") gave her testimony during a hearing to determine whether the attorneys will be released from jail pending their trial.

The judge had ordered that the three; William Gallion, Shirley Cunningham and Melbourne Mills remain in jail pending the hearing.

The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals declined to rule last Thursday on an appeal by Gallion, Mills and Cunningham and sent the case back to U.S. District Judge William Bertelsman.
