FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky Court of Appeals Judge Lisabeth Hughes Abramson has been appointed to serve on the state Supreme
Court.

Abramson succeeds the late Kentucky Supreme Court Justice William McAnulty, who resigned August eighth, and died of cancer on August 23rd.

Abramson had served on the Kentucky Court of Appeals since being appointed last June and previously served on the court from 1997 to 1998.

Abramson is a native of Princeton in western Kentucky and a graduate of the University of Louisville. She is the third woman to serve on the state Supreme Court.

She will serve through the November 2008 election, when voters will elect a justice.

Abramson was chosen from a list of nominees that also included Circuit Judges Geoffrey Morris and James Shake.
