Wesley Mullins' Accused Killer Pleads Not Guilty

PARIS, Ky. (AP) - A central Kentucky man has entered a plea of not guilty to a murder charge in the death of six-year-old Wesley Mullins of Winchester who was found bludgeoned to death in his grandfather's Paris garage.

Forty-eight-year-old Louis "Buck" Ballard of Paris today heard Judge Rob Johnson set October 19th as the date for a pre-trial hearing.

Ballard had been living with Mullins' grandfather when the boy was killed August fourth from what an autopsy showed was blunt force trauma to the head. The boy's grandfather found the body in the garage behind his home a day after the murder.

Ballard was being held on a $500,000 cash bond in the Bourbon County Detention Center before the appearance in court. The circuit clerk's office was unable to say if the bond remained the same because records were still in the courtroom.
