A heavy rainmaker is set to move into our region later today. The bulk of the heaviest rain is overnight into tomorrow with a Flash Flood Watch in effect.
Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from today, June 28 until sunset tomorrow, June 29, in honor of long-time U.S. Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia, who died early Monday morning.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Byrd family as we mourn the passing of legendary Senator Robert Byrd,” Gov. Beshear said. “As the longest-ever serving member in congressional history, Sen. Byrd will be remembered for his depth of knowledge and dedication to the citizens of West Virginia. He was a strong, highly-respected leader amongst his colleagues and will truly be missed.”
Gov. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute by lowering flags to half-staff in honor of Sen. Byrd.
