A dynamic system will cross the state over the next few days and deliver another big rain event. This could cause flash flooding across parts of the state.
After a two-day search, police have arrested a man wanted for firing shots during a dispute with a land surveyor.
Sheriff's Department officials tell 27 NEWSFIRST a county employee was surveying land belonging to 63-year-old Tommy Peyton on Lick Branch Road, east of West Liberty, when the surveyor says Peyton became very upset.
The two reportedly had a verbal dispute. The surveyor says Peyton fired a couple of shots into the air at that time.
Peyton reportedly ran in to the woods with a loaded rifle when the Morgan County Sheriff arrived at the scene. Worried he might be a danger to himself of others, the sheriff's department and Kentucky State Police had been searching for Peyton for two days. They used helicopters and dog teams, searching barns and out buildings in the area along Lick Branch road and KY 437.
Wednesday evening, the Sheriff's department got a call from a person who said Peyton had showed up at neighbor's house. Peyton was arrested soon after at his home, and charged with Terroristic Threatening.
Peyton told NEWSFIRST outside the sheriff's department that he had been in the woods during the past two days. He was taken to the Rowan County Detention Center.
