A judge has dismissed a sex-abuse lawsuit against the Roman Catholic Diocese of Covington.

Fayette Senior Judge Gary Payne ruled that the case was barred by the statute of limitations.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports that the ruling cancels a civil trial that had been scheduled for next week in the case brought by Samuel Lee Edwards Greywolf.

Greywolf alleged that he was abused by the Reverend John Modica
in 1974 at the rectory of Mary, Queen of the Holy Rosary in
Lexington. Greywolf was 17 at the time. The Covington diocese
included Lexington until 1988.

Greywolf's lawyer, Chuck Arnold of Lexington, has said he will
appeal the ruling.
