General showers will be the main action over the next few hours. A few could remain on the strong to severe side in eastern parts of Kentucky.
Lexington is celebrating the 4th of July on the 3rd this year. The downtown area is expected to be very busy with a full day of events scheduled to take place.
Saturday's festivities begin at 7:30 a.m. with the Bluegrass 10,000 run. Vendors booths and kids activity areas will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. There will be numerous music and other acts performing throughout the day. All of the festivities will take place along Main and Short streets between Upper and Limestone streets. The day concludes with the Red, White, & Boom event featuring numerous country music acts and a fireworks display.
