In a 10 to 4 vote the Lexington Urban County Council voted to expand alcohol sales on Sundays.
The decision was delivered to a packed house Thursday night where many people showed up to voice their opinions on the matter.
One council member abstained from voting and another council member was absent.
This will be the first change to Lexington's liquor laws in more than 20 years.
The new ordinance goes into effect on December 11th, but December 16th is the first Sunday when the sales will be allowed.
