Five people accused of trying to bribe Commonwealth's Attorney indicted

Five people accused of a plot to allegedly bribe the Commonwealth's Attorney for Pulaski County have been indicted.

The Kentucky Attorney General's office says 64-year-old Everett Hyden, 63-year-old Noble Hampton, 44-year-old Virginia "Carol" Hampton, 62-year-old Walter Creekmore, and 44-year-old Darmus "Bubby" Dalton were each indicted on one count of complicity to bribe a public servant.

The charge could carry as much as 10 years in prison, if a conviction is made.

Dalton was also indicted for being a persistent felony offender. He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

Court documents say the five suspects acted together to collect and deliver $20,000 to the Commonwealth's Attorney as a bribe to secure the release of a twice-convicted narcotics trafficker.

The Commonwealth's Attorney, Eddy Montgomery, immediately called police.
