FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- The Kentucky Education Association and the National Education Association have endorsed Democrat Jack Conway in the U.S. Senate race.
The endorsement was announced Wednesday.
Kentucky Education Association President Sharron Oxendine called Conway "a leader we can trust" on issues that matter to educators and students.
Conway faces Republican Rand Paul in this fall's general election to replace retiring Sen. Jim Bunning, a 78-year-old who opted not to seek re-election.
Conway pledged in a statement Wednesday to work hard to improve education in Kentucky.
The endorsement is key. The Kentucky Education Association has 41,000 members.
