Clerks forced into bathroom during attempted robbery

A man who tried robbing a convenience store Sunday got away empty handed.

Kentucky State Police say the man entered the KY 205 Food Mart in the Helechawa community of Wolfe County with a hood covering his face.

The two female clerks on duty say he then pointed what appeared to be a gun -- covered with a sock -- at them.

That is when they told him there was no money in the cash register.

Before leaving, though, the man forced the clerks into a bathroom.

They weren't hurt.

Police are still searching for the man.
